About Us
We are a self advocacy group in Macclesfield where we advocate for adults with learning disabilities and/or autism.
We have two groups called ‘Speaking Up’ and ‘SUSO Chat’. Our Speaking Up group meets every other Friday. This is where we raise potential issues or plan advocacy events that the members would like to attend. We dedicate a morning to reviewing our meeting minutes and then spend the afternoon getting to work on making a difference. We give our members the opportunity to be heavily involved by helping them with training, taking part in the newsletter, creating videos and doing the meeting minutes.
SUSO Chat is a chance to be able to have your say in private with your group. We have a wonderful volunteer in the room who will take the minutes for this and any potential issues can be raised by the members in our Speaking Up group.
We are very involved in the North-West partnership board and self advocates groups, as well as learning disability conferences.
Services
Our service provides activities such as ‘Explore and Create’, Pub Quizzes at Porters, Karaoke, Simply Food and Makaton to name a few.
We also have free training courses like ‘Healthy Eating’, ‘Employability and Volunteering’ and ‘Music training’ which is funded by Cheshire East Council.
We also have our advocacy side of the charity where we meet every other Friday.
